In a standard reformer class, the instructor gives a general cue to what color springs to add for each movement. There may be some additional information or they may know your body well enough to make a more personal adjustment, but in the context of a group class they don't have the time to dive deeper into that. What does each spring weigh? Why are we using those specific springs for that movement? Is the intended muscle group getting activated or aggravated? We all come to Pilates for a different reason and all of our bodies are so diverse-spring tension affects us all in varied ways.
In this workshop you will learn exactly what each spring weighs at full extension and what that is doing in your body. We have 90 mins to explore all the springs in different movements and discuss them as a community for a better understanding of what is happening in all our different bodies. You get a comprehensive package to make notes and take home almost all reformer exercises, whether the spring tension is being supportive or offering more torque or work in the body and what muscle groups they are intended to activate.
